Final Artist Statement

For the final project I wanted to have some fun. Looking back this was not the most efficient or fun semester for me but I definitely learned a lot of things on the way. This project we are using gorilla style techniques to project map and create an aesthetically pleasing piece of work. Learning madmapper and VDMX had to be one of the more easier things to grasp for me this semester. I found photos and videos that I found pleasing and create a most display/ environment for them to all live in synchrony. I had never done projection mapping before but it was fun seeing this come together as I learned more about madmapper. I compiled a folder full of my images and found the exact combination I was looking for when practicing in class. I did not want to put too much pressure on myself for this last project so once I found something that was pleasing to me, I stuck with it. Unfortunately I was not able to get my project up for the show for multiple reasons. For one I was stuck in traffic for way longer than estimated which caused my late arrival and lack of space to set up my projector. Once I found a comfortable space and began to work, I realized that I did not bring my stool or Dongle with me and I was unable to show the work that I put together. Despite me not being able to show what I created, I still had fun and enjoyed the process. Overall, I really feel like this class superseded my expectations. I learned many new skills, built relationships and refined my skills as a digital artists while simultaneously having fun. I can see myself in the next few years practicing coding and creating things in blender because these are tools that could take me far if I spend the time learning and gaining confidence.
